BOO For Tech Support YAY For Me

I have a laptop (company shall remain nameless because I am not really about throwing people under the bus) that is only 13 months old. About 7 weeks ago I got an error message on all 3 of my USB ports that said “device not recognized“. After calling tech support, updating chipsets, bios, and all of my usb root hubs the problem still persisted. They then asked me to restore my laptop to factory defaults. If you ever have to do that… NOT FUN! (side note-always back up your PC or set a restore point… learn from my mistakes) Again, that did not solve the problem and the laptop was sent in for repair. While it was there they replaced my motherboard and a few other hardware devices. The laptop came back and work. A big super YAY right?
Well if that is where the story ends… Today I got the same fateful error. Of course I was frustrated but I knew the repair was guaranteed for 90 days. So no problem… right? WRONG. After a very successfully interaction with the online (chat) tech support the person advised me to update my chipset again and save the changes in my BIOS. Easy enough, but it did not solve the issue. I then called into tech support… and that is where the big old BOO starts. The woman explains that it is a software issue and she is unable to help me. I then explain it is the same issue and it should be under warranty. After once again refusing to help me I asked for her supervisor. She then placed me on hold, without checking back in, for over 40 minutes. I got bored… googled my problem and found the fix. And guess what it WORKED. YAY FOR ME… BOO for TECH SUPPORT.
Oh ya… do you want to know what I did?
I unplugged the laptop and removed the battery for 5 minutes. It fixed the USB device not recognizedissue and I am not happily typing and mousing and USB’ing away on my laptop. After doing YEARS of tech support myself (I usually don’t admit to that because I don’t want to ruin my street cred as a moron) I should have known sometimes a good old “hard reboot” solves the issue.

My New Boyfriend Is Picture Perfect

I have had my Canon T1i for about a year now and it quickly took charge and held title of my “main” electronic boyfriend. What’s not to love? High ISO, light body, so many white balance settings it makes bleach jealous. But I have to be honest, something was missing in our relationship. It was time for us to face the facts and realize we needed much lower aperture to keep that “spark” alive in our relationship.
When I recently attended CES 2011 one of the main places I wanted to visit was the Canon “booth”… or in this case it was more of a house. You can’t contain all of the amazing things Canon has to offer in a booth. I of course headed straight towards the DSLR cameras so I could gawk at the wonders that lay before me. Thankfully I was able to prevent myself from drooling. I’m no expert but I do know that drool and electronics don’t mix. And there I found what was going to bring the magic back with my boyfriend.

Do what you love… Isn’t that what they say? Well my 13 year old, Xander, has certainly got that down. By making a video of something he truly enjoys doing. From that video my son is now raking in a tidy little sum by monetizing his YouTube account. He has nearly 150,000 hits on one video alone. It isn’t a video for shock value, or cute babies biting fingers. It is of a boy filming a Bakugan battle. And apparently there really IS a market for everything.

I have had my, Samsung Vibrant, android phone for about 3 months now so I consider myself to be an all knowing expert. Because everyone knows that it only takes like 2.75 months to become an expert at stuff. And only 5 months to become queen of a subject… Just call me Queen Unicorn.
Back to my point. So I am an expert on all things android apps now. And I can’t just keep all this knowledge to myself so I have to share the top 10 free android apps. All of these are according to me and don’t have any statistical or factual data to back it up. But considering I am only 2 months away from being queen of all android apps you should probably listen.
